There a lots of different types of non-competitive cyling events, if your not keen on racing or time trialling. In the future I hope that we can organise some of our own. Here is a guideline of the types of events that currently exist.
Sportive
Most cyclists these days are familiar with sportive events which [...]
Five wheelers set off on a hilly route over the tops around Lothersdale. As usual Neil (I’m no good at climbing) Dobson led from the front on all the steep climbs. Although there were plenty of signs of flooding and at some points we were riding in rivers rather than on roads! We did manage [...]
Firmly established as one of the ‘must-do’ events, and a true classic in every sense of the word, the event is taking place on the 17th June 2012.
Offering you a choice of 3 challenging routes; 110 miles, 84 miles and 50 miles, and taking you through the heart of the [...]
First on the calendar by popular demand.

This weeks Sean Kelly Award Goes to Steve Hannigan, who joined me on a soaking wet ride to Embsay and Gargrave, while all the rest of you probably had your heating on at home
Actually once your wet and you get going, its not so bad. Luckily we didn’t suffer from any strong winds [...]

Just like Sean Kelly who famously liked rubbish weather because “half the riders have given up before the start”, Gibbo beats all by a clear margin when no other Wheelers turn up. Unfortunately though, he ends up buying all his own pints in the bar!
Thursday night rides will be starting on Thursday the 19th of April at 6.30pm. Meeting at the usual place in Glusburn Institute car park.
The first few rides will be an early set off, until the light improves.
Like last year, all abilities are welcome. Rides are around 25-30 miles and usual take around 2 [...]
